PC-EFT POS

What does it do?

PC-EFT POS is part of the Host PC-EFT family of solutions, allowing merchants to process magnetic stripe and chip and PIN transactions easily and securely over the internet without the need for local servers of additional communications lines.

PC-EFT POS provides an out of the box solution using a standard easy to integrate API which fully manages the chip and PIN process between your point of sale application and your acquiring bank.

PC-EFT POS supports the latest industry standard Fixed and Mobile Pin Entry Devices (PEDS) over RS232 or IP connections.  Full terminal management is also provided, ensuring ease of support with the Host PC-EFT POS solution being fully managed and updated from one central point.

How does it work?

PC-EFT POS uses a PA-DSS client which resides on the Point of Sale communicating between the Point of Sale application and the Pin Entry Device.

Upon receipt of a request for authorisation from the Point of Sale, the PC-EFT client initiates a connection with the PED and the customer is prompted to confirm amount and enter PIN. Once verified PC-EFT client initiates a secure connection to the Servebase Managed Payment Service, where it is validated before going out to the acquiring bank for authorisation.

The authorisation response is then returned back through PC-EFT client to the PED, where the customer is then prompted to remove card. Once the transaction has been completed the response is returned by PC-EFT client back to the Point of Sale for completion of the transaction and confirmation of settlement back to the Servebase Managed Payment Service.

In the event of a communications failure between the merchant and the Servebase Managed Payment Service, PC-EFT client will process any transactions capable of being authorised ‘offline’ .  These will then be forwarded to the Servebase Managed Payment Service for settlement once communications have been restored.
